Former president Donald Trump said he would issue full pardons and a government apology to rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and violently attacked law enforcement to stop the democratic transfer of power.
“I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” he told conservative radio host Wendy Bell on Thursday morning. Such a move would be contingent on Trump running and winning the 2024 presidential election.
Supporters of the former president attacked the Capitol as Congress was confirming Joe Biden’s electoral college win in the 2020 election, the worst attack on the seat of democracy in more than two centuries. The insurrection left four people dead, and an officer who had been sprayed with a powerful chemical irritant, Brian D. Sicknick, suffered a stroke and died the next day. About 140 members of law enforcement were injured as rioters attacked them with flagpoles, baseball bats, stun guns, bear spray and pepper spray.
As a result, the House impeached Trump for inciting an insurrection.
Trump’s comments to Bell came on the same day President Biden is scheduled to deliver a prime-time address in Philadelphia about extremist threats to American democracy and efforts to rescue “the soul of the nation,” and as Trump is battling in court over top-secret documents he apparently took to his Mar-a-Lago estate after leaving office and did not return despite being subpoenaed.
Biden on Thursday night is expected to deliver a dire warning on rising political violence and threatening rhetoric, a message he has ramped up in recent weeks. In his latest public appearances, the president has doubled down on his concerns that “MAGA Republicans” have captured much of the GOP and are threatening democracy by encouraging attacks against federal authorities and political figures, pushing debunked speculations and continuing the promotion of false claims that the 2020 election was fraudulent.
Trump, during his conversation with Bell on Thursday morning, also said that he met with some Jan. 6 defendants in his office this week and that he is helping some financially.
“I am financially supporting people that are incredible and they were in my office actually two days ago, so they’re very much in my mind,” Trump said. “It’s a disgrace what they’ve done to them. What they’ve done to these people is disgraceful.”WaPo
This is actually a really big deal, Trump has been heavily criticized on the right ever since the government started prosecuting the January 6th protestors. He never issued statements, apologies, or anything in relation to the prisoners who were being held in harsh conditions and being treated like prisoners of war.
To hear that Trump has been helping the protestors financially is great, and him issuing this statement is not just great for the people who are being abused by the government, but it’s great for him and his campaign in 2024.
People have been turning towards DeSantis ever since Trump cucked for the vax and started promoting it, I think he’s realized this and is trying to, as Alex Jones said, “Turn the ship around.” He’s really getting there, he is, and even if he doesn’t get to the point where he says the vaccine is bullshit, I will still not vote for or support DeSantis in any way at all, he’s a total Israel shill, worse than Trump is by far. (Trump probably wouldn’t be as much of an Israel shill if it wasn’t for Kushner and other fags.)
Trump stopped talking about Israel and Vaccines in his rallies a while ago, now that he’s doing this, he’s really getting back to being the Trump that I know and love. I just hope he really starts cracking down on the vaccine more, I think that’s really the holdup on the right that’s causing the party to become so divided.
We need Trump in 2024, DeSantis is a cucked candidate, he’s not presidential material. The right really is held up on the vaccine and that’s the main reason why they are supporting DeSantis in polls for 2024. People may not realize it, or believe it, but that’s exactly what’s going on, there’s literally no other reason to support DeSantis.
What people are going to have to accept is that Trump is the better leader, and will easily beat DeSantis in 2024, and therefore there is no point in supporting DeSantis. DeSantis will not pardon or support Jan 6th prisoners, and he’s not going to fight for the country like Trump will. He’s going to be the most Pro-Israel President that you’ve ever seen, and I’ve already shown this on my show. DeSantis should stay in his place in Florida, he does good work there for the most part, this is just causing more trouble for the GOP ahead of 2024.
God Bless Trump.
